In towns and cities I'm a street photographer. I take photographs of strangers on the street without permission.
Most people I shoot are not aware they've been shot and never see the image.
I work this way because when people are aware they react. Most find it difficult to act naturally when they see a camera. They try to show the 'best' version of themselves, or tell you to bugger off if they're not feeling it.
The best street images happen when people are just being themselves and dancing like no one is watching. Candid images with no staging or styling make an authentic record of a time and place. And when it clicks, everyday people doing everyday things are heroic.
These are some moments I wasn't told to bugger off in London, New York, Spain, France, Sicily, Rome, Cuba, Nairobi, Marrakesh and Deal.
